Paul Marlowe is the mild-mannered descendant of a long line of curious and obstinate characters who no doubt are, somewhere, quite disappointed by his progress. But, considering that many of his more distinguished forebears were hanged for witchcraft, burnt alive for heresy, or beheaded for treason, Marlowe feels that there is something to be said for the quiet life. Don’t cross him though, or the blood will out. Marlowe lives in a cold, peaceable kingdom called Canada where, to his secret relief, nothing much ever happens.
