An artist and playwright, Widaad Pangarker had the thrilling experience of having a play staged at The Artscape Theatre in 2006.
To get there, she travelled from the age of eight via paper with her field mouse family, Fairy Soppity-toes, numerous angst-ridden A+ compositions, and poetry publications in anthologies and a magazine or two. She’s also taught art and manages a craft and design store leafily nestled amongst squirrels and nuts.
Known to travel, sky-dive, and play guitar to help her Siamese (and hubby) calm down, Widaad is also a keen photographer. Conjurer and conduit, she believes words are alive and loves it when characters kidnap her and do their own thing on (and off) the pages while holding her hostage. She is married to her gorgeous soulmate, also a writer, who helps her unfurl while she falls without wings into words. The Day of the Whales is part of a bigger picture that Widaad is busy layering.
